Fashion bomb

If all goes to plan, it might be time to say goodbye to our winter coats soon enough, for at least a couple of weeks. Rather than reaching for the predictable mac, denim or barbour jacket, why not try the bomber?

Long gone are the associations of bomber jackets with skin heads or 80’s embarrassing family photos. No, s/s 2012 sees the coolest members of the fash pack sporting(no pun intended) the trend, with labels like Stella McCartney, Prada, Chloe, Proenza Schouler and Alexander wang showcasing these babies.

The classic monocramatic bombers are great for evening wear and adding style to more grown up looks, while the printed and patterned versions are young and fun for the approaching summer days.

Bomber jackets are not just to be worn with head to toe sports lux leggings and mesh tops, in fact a neutral colour can be paired with most items from your wardrobe from floral day dresses, denim shorts and a shirt to smart going out skinnies and courts.

Stella McCartney, for the luckier of you out there.

Topshop’s girlie nod to the look is adorable.

This River Island jacket looks expensive and chic, and isn’t the former!

Proenza Schouler show us that this trend is for ladies too.

I’m not too big on Forever 21, but this faux leather varsity bomber is really cute and the ‘A’ would be perfect for me!

Prada mix up the retro lady like trend with these patterned bombers.

Finally, don’t forget to keep an eye out in vintage shops for a second hand one like Rihanna’s amazing Chanel one. I thrifted mine for six euros!
